Our Students

Una semana en la selva

A few months ago, I signed up for the travelling classroom including the new option of a week in the jungle. I thought it was going to be good, but I couldn´t imagine it would be this good. First of all, the cabañas are beautiful : they are brand new, made out of organic wood and you basically sleep outside because the biggest part of the walls are made of netting. There are barrely other tourists, what really gives you the feeling of ´being away´. The classes are good and the excursions, which take place after class, are just amazing. In only one week I have made two trekkings through the jungle, I have seen an animal rescue center, I learned how to use Quichea weapons and got to know their traditions, I went intertubing and jumped out of a huge tree into River Napo. It was probably the best week of my life and that is why I´m going back to the jungle for a month! I highly recommend this to every other student who would like to be ´away´ for once and who appreciates nature. No doubt that you will have the time of your life as well!

Accommodation Amazon

You can find our center on the Napo River in the Ecuadorian Amazon. It was built according to eco-friendly practices and materials, all oriented to get green certifications. The accommodations are easily furnished, but we are well equipped with facilities and amenities necessary for our students to stay for their study periods in comfort.

We offer private cabins or also shared rooms, which get cleaned three times per week. All of the cabins are equipped with secure screens for plenty of bug-free ventilation and ceiling fan ventilation, lighting, and private bathrooms with hot water.
Furthermore, we have a few social areas, where you can hang out with other students, for example the dining room, a recreation area with games such as table tennis, billiards and football, a reading lounge, a swimming pool and relaxation areas with hammocks and gazebos. You should feel very comfortable.

How to arrive

Usually our students come from Quito, so you take the bus to Tena (USD $8). From there you go further by taxi to the Punta delAhuano (30min from Tena, USD $15-20) or by public bus (USD $1.5). We will await you there and bring you by canoe (if the weather is too bad we will bring you by car) through the Napo River (20min) to our center.

You can also have a semi-private transportation (shuttle) to Punta delAhuano, with a duration of 4 hours and a cost of approx. US $ 30 each person.
Another alternative is to come by plane (US $60 one way). There are three weekly flights (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) from Quito to Jumandy Airport, which is located about 5 minutes from the Punta del Ahuano, where we normally pick up our students.

Whatever your preferences are and way of transportation you choose let us know in advance, so we can organize the pick-up from the Punta delAhuano.
Already on the route to our Amazon center you can enjoy an incredible mosaic of landscapes.
